The word ped·a·gogy is the method and practice of teaching, especially theoretical concepts. We are currently creating content for this section.

About Us

The Pedagogue was established in 1998 as a Private Tutoring Service, and in 2008 expanded to a Private Tutoring Referral Service. In 2015, The Pedagogue LLC, was established to develop educational materials and in 2016 expanded to include Research. Our education specialty is in the area Mathematics, Statistics, and Technology. Our research is data driven. Clients include the Michael J. Fox Foundation and IMaRS.

 

A Brief Biography of R. D. Wooten, Ph.D.

Dr. R. D. Wooten has worked as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of South Florida for over 20 years; and is currently working toward creating educational materials and continues to research.

She received her MA/BA in Mathematics and her PhD in Statistics from the University of South Florida. She has worked for 20 years teaching and has been recognized for her excellence in teaching; teaching courses such as Liberal Arts Math, Finite Mathematics, Basic Statistics, Introduction to Statistics and Applied Statistics Methods.

Courses taught include but are not limited to: Liberal Art Math, College Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Engineering Calculus I, II & III; Introductions to Statistics I & II; Applied Statistical Methods I & II and Survival Analysis.

Her research interests are concentrated in Applied Statistics with emphasis on Environmental Studies. Her research publications span a variety of areas such as Global Warming (carbon dioxide and temperature), Atmospheric Sciences and Geography (hurricanes), Geology (Volcanic Ash Fall), Marine Biology (Red Tide), among others.

Dr. Wooten is extensively involved in activities to improve education not only in Mathematics and Statistics, but Education in general. She is the Academic Coordinator for two free-educational assistance program which offer opportunities for students to volunteer and the local community to get the assistance in their studies that they would have otherwise been unable to afford. Area of specialization are Mathematical Education and Applied Statistics with emphasis on Environmental Studies.
